Norfolk Campus Scholarships @ TCC

Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online or pickup an application from the campus Financial Aid Office. Use the TCC College Code: 003712.

Complete your TCC Scholarship Application.

Priority Deadline is April 1st prior to the award year.

Applications may be accepted after April 1st or until all scholarship funds are awarded.

When notified by the Financial Aid Office of your award, submit your thank you letter.

The following scholarships are available to students attending the Thomas W. Moss, Jr. Campus in Norfolk. Select the scholarship name for criteria, eligibility and application materials.

James Green Martin, Jr. Scholarship

 

Description:

This scholarship was established by Catherine Martin Willcox, in honor of her father, to support Norfolk Campus students. The funds should be applied to tuition, fees, books, and other academic expenses.

Criteria:

• Recipient must be a student from the Thomas W. Moss, Jr. Campus
• Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Financial need

Norfolk Campus Faculty and Staff Scholarship

 

Description:

This scholarship was established in 2009 by faculty and staff members of the Norfolk Campus to support students at the Norfolk Campus.  The scholarship can be used for tuition, fees, and books.

Criteria:

• Student’s home campus must be the Norfolk Campus of Tidewater Community College.

• Student must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

• Student must have completed at least 30 credit hours.

Norfolk Campus General Scholarship

 

Description:

This scholarship was established through donations to the Tidewater Community College Educational Foundation.  Scholarship funds should be applied to tuition, fees, and books.

Criteria:

• Must be currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program at TCC

Continuing student (minimum of 6 completed credits)
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

Funds to be equally awarded in two semesters

Amount of scholarship award per student not to exceed tuition, fees, and/or books

Scholarship to be awarded fall, spring or summer semesters

Letter of recommendation is required with application from one of the following:

  TCC faculty member, faculty from another institution, or employer

Norfolk Provost's Academic Excellence Scholarship

 

Description:

This scholarship was established in 2009 by Dr. Alex Kajstura, Provost of TCC’s Norfolk Campus.  It is intended to support students who demonstrate academic excellence while pursuing a degree at the Norfolk Campus.  Beginning in the Spring 2010 semester, scholarship funds should be used for tuition, fees, and books.

Criteria:

a. Recipient’s home campus must be the Norfolk Campus.

b. Recipient must have completed at least three semesters (45 hours of course credit toward a degree) at Tidewater Community College.

c. Recipient must have a GPA of 4.0.

d. Recipient must submit an essay of 1,000 words or two pages double spaced describing his/her educational pursuits.

e. Recipient must qualify for the above criteria and have not yet met the cost of attendance for the year.

f. If no applicants fulfill requirements a through e the scholarship will be awarded as a merit-based scholarship (a through d) and financial consideration (e) will not apply.

The Thomas L. Oliver Student Aid Fund

 

Description:

This scholarship was established by the TOWN Foundation in 1998 to assist students with demonstrated academic ability who lack sufficient financial means to continue his/her course(s) of study at TCC's Norfolk Campus.

Criteria:

• Enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours per regular semester
• Financial need
• Student must send acknowledgement letter to donor at time of award

Tryntje and Norman Willcox Endowed Memorial Scholarship

 

Description:

This scholarship was established in February 2007 in memory of Tryntje and Norman Willcox, long-time supporters of Tidewater Community College and the Norfolk community as a whole, who died tragically in 2006.  Scholarship funds should be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with pursuing an education.

Criteria:

• Student must be attending Tidewater Community College’s Norfolk Campus

Student can be a full-time or part-time student

Student must demonstrate financial need
• Student must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
