Business Source Complete: Provides full text for journal and magazine articles in economics and business disciplines, as well as financial data, case studies, investment research reports, industry reports, market research reports, country reports, company profiles, SWOT analyses, and more.

CQ Researcher: Offers keyword searching and topical browsing of in-depth articles covering many current and historical topics of economic interest, such as health care, energy, food prices, global finance, and more. Articles are researched by seasoned journalists and cite or link to many primary sources of information.

Econlit:  Search for economics topics in academic journal abstracts, book reviews, and working papers.  Selected fulltext documents are available.

Factiva:  Access local, national, and international news and trade magazine articles.  Get current and recent historical quotes for stocks, funds, currencies, and market indexes.  Company reports include business descriptions, press releases, financials, and competitor lists.  “News Pages” section provides convenient daily access to major news publications for different regions of the world.

Library Catalog:  Find books and videos on economics topics available at TCC libraries.

Mergent Horizon: Find, filter and organize information about companies that are actively traded on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ--over 6,200 in total, with product-level detail for 3,700 companies in the Healthcare, Technology, Media and Finance sectors.

Mergent Online: Search a comprehensive global company database, including business description, history, property, subsidiaries, officers and directors, long-term debt, capital stock, and industry reports.

Wiley Interscience Journals:  Browse or search academic journals in economics disciplines – use the “subject area” list to focus your search in economics journals.

Dictionary of Economics: Browse or search entries on all aspects of economic theory, from microeconomics to public finance and international trade with definitions of mathematical and statistical terms widely used in economics, as well as words from related areas such as business and finance.

Dictionary of Statistics: Browse or search a broad range of statistical vocabulary in jargon-free language, including terms used in computing, mathematics, operational research, and probability, as well as biographical information on over 200 key figures in the field, and coverage of statistical journals and societies.

Encyclopedia of U.S. Economic History: Browse or search 1,000 economic topic entries, era overviews, event/movement profiles, biographies, business/industry profiled, geographic profiles.

Handbook of International Financial Terms: Browse or search entries such as Circus, Firewall, Amazon Bond, Clean Float, Cocktail Swap, Butterfly, Streaker, Straddle, and Strangle. There are numerous examples to show how particular calculations and instruments are used; details are also given of acronyms, currencies, and major markets.

Economic Forecasting Project from Old Dominion University – Find local economic data and analysis, including the annual “State of the Region” reports.

E. V. Williams Center for Real Estate and Economic Development from Old Dominion University – Access annual real estate reports for local retail, industrial, office and residential markets, and related economic reports.

Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance – Access economic, demographic, infrastructure, tax, and real estate information for Southeastern Virginia, including data tools for comparison with other areas.

Virginia Economic Development Partnership – Provides business news, community profiles, economic & demographic data, international trade information, downloadable GIS data, and comparisons with other areas of the country.

Federal Government Resources

Beige Book – Published eight times per year by the Federal Reserve Board, each Federal Reserve Bank gathers anecdotal information on current economic conditions in its district through reports from bank and branch directors and interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts, and other sources. The Beige Book summarizes this information by district and sector.  

Bureau of Economic Analysis – This U.S. Department of Commerce agency provides reports and data on national, regional, industry, and international accounts that present essential information on such key issues as economic growth, regional economic development, inter-industry relationships, and the Nation's position in the world economy.

Bureau of Labor Statistics – Find and download data from the U.S. Department of Labor, including wages, productivity, employment, spending, and demographic data.

Census Bureau – Provides statistical information on the nation's population and economy through decennial census information and many other surveys and studies.

Economic Report of the President – Search current and historical annual reports written by the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, which provide an overview of the nation's economic progress using text and extensive data appendices.

Federal Reserve – Access federal monetary policy, banking information & regulations, economic data, reports and news. 

Council of Economic Advisors – Provides speeches, testimony, fact sheets, reports and economic indicators. The Council consists of a team of highly-trained professional economists, forecasters and statistical experts who draw upon evidence-based research to provide the President with thorough and timely economic analysis for the development and implementation of our nation’s economic policy.

Brookings Institute – Provides independent scholarship on economic and public policy issues for the U.S. and the international system.

Economics Search Engine – Search for information on 20,000 economics websites using Google search technology. Provided by the American Economic Association.

globalEDGE – Find reports on countries, U.S. states, industries and international business statistics. Also provides course modules, syllabi and other content for international business courses. Some content requires registration and fees. Provided by Michigan State University.

International Monetary Fund – Access country information, news, international economic data and statistics, and publications such as World Economic Outlook.
