What is a database?
- A database is a collection of data that has been selected, organized,
and made available for searching.
- A database structure consists of data organized into records made
up of searchable fields.
- A database is a discrete collection of data. The data has been selected
for its content, quality, format or for a variety of reasons.
- Some databases are free resources. Other databases
are not accessible for free since there is a cost to gather data, organize
it,
and provide
a means
to
search
the
data.
- Read "What
is a database?" at the State University of New York.
