About TCC Theatre
While attending TCC, students may earn their Associate Degree in either Performance Theatre or Technical Theatre. For non-majors, there are also many opportunities to get involved with TCC THEATRE. Participating in a theatre production is an exciting enrichment to the general college experience.
Students have the opportunity to be involved with theatre productions that are staged in three different performance spaces: the intimate 85- seat studio theatre on the Chesapeake campus, the newly-renovated TCC Roper Performing Arts Center in downtown Norfolk, and the outdoor Shakespeare in the Grove theatre.
With very reasonable tuition, dedicated instructors, a wide range of theatre courses, and varied production experiences, TCC is a great place to begin your studies of theatre arts. Students will receive a sound preparation for transfer to a four-year bachelor's degree program.
A degree in theatre prepares you for success in more careers than you might at first imagine. Of course, some theatre graduates may find work in theatre, television, and film, but these are just a few of the many employment opportunities open to those with theatre training. There are many important life skills that you'll learn while studying theatre. Studying and working in theatre cultivates abilities that transfer well to any career choice. These skills include:
-
development of self-confidence and self-reliance
-
creative and constructive problem-solving abilities
-
a strong work ethic
-
the ability to work collaboratively with others
-
the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time wisely
-
the ability to adapt to change
-
the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
-
a keen awareness and acceptance of cultural and personal differences
Non theatre majors are welcome to participate in TCC THEATRE productions. Students may also earn elective credit through participation in theatre productions.
TCC Theatre is here to help all students get to where they want to be. From here, go anywhere!
