Engineering at TCC
The Engineering Program at Tidewater Community College is
designed for persons who plan to transfer to a four-year college
or university to complete a bachelor's degree in one of several
engineering fields such as:
Aerospace Engineering
Civil Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Computer Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Environmental Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Goal
The goal of the Engineering Program is to provide students with
the necessary courses and skills to meet all requirements of the
first two years of a four-year Engineering Program at a college
or university
The Associate's in Science degree in Engineering from TCC
provides the student with a solid foundation in mathematics,
chemistry, physics, and engineering. Significant computer usage
is included in all engineering courses, using programs such as
AutoCAD, MathCAD, Excel, and ORCAD, as well as programming
languages such as C++. No prior computer experience is required
to enter the program.
The majority of TCC Engineering students transfer to nearby Old
Dominion University (ODU). Others transfer to Virginia Tech and
to various colleges nationwide. Articulation agreements guarantee
acceptance of TCC Engineering graduates into ODU's College of
Engineering with a 2.0 GPA and into Virginia Tech's College of
Engineering with a 3.0 GPA. For detailed transfer information,
see the TCC
Student Handbook for Engineers.
