Health Professions: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Working with physical therapists, PTAs provide treatment and rehabilitative services to
patients who have experienced injury or disabling disease.  

NOTE: There is an error on page 99 of the 2013-2014 college catalog – semester 5.  It reads social science elective. It should read humanities elective. The information listed on this website and its related pages are accurate and updated.

 

Physical Therapist Assistants treatments include:

 

  • Exercises for increasing strength, coordination, and joint motion
  • the use of heat, cold, electricity, light, and water to decrease pain
  • teaching functional activities, such as walking with crutches, canes and walkers

Transfer Students

* As of July, 1 2012 technical classes from other PT/PTA programs will no longer be accepted for transfer credit.  Transfer credit will be accepted for general education classes only.
