The Dual Enrollment Program is an collaboration between the public school system and Tidewater Community College. The program is designed to permit high school students to meet the requirements for high school graduation along with gaining college credit toward four year colleges, universities, and career and technical courses. The rigor of the courses taught will be greater than high school courses since dual enrollment courses are college courses; therefore, these courses are reflected on a student's permanent college transcript. Thus, students should understand the importance of doing well in these courses in order to reap the benefits of the program. College courses are taught at Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach high schools, while some many take place on the campus.
