WELCOME

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Fred W. Beazley Portsmouth Campus, where academic excellence is our primary goal.  The Languages, Mathematics and Sciences (LMS) Division is home of eighteen (18) disciplines and programs, such as Upward Bound, Early Alert, and Learning Communities.

Since we have moved to the NEW Portsmouth Campus, the LMS Division is proud to offer technologically-rich classroom experience for students.  For example, every English classroom has an individual computer station for each student that transforms into a writing surface, the science laboratories feature the latest technology and software, and foreign language classrooms are equipped with Rosetta Stone software and computers in the classroom. Of course, the Division has excellent faculty who are passionate about your success.

I would be remiss if I did not mention our newest addition to the Division—the Learning Assistance Center (LAC). The LAC is every Portsmouth student’s one-stop location for academic support. The LAC offers walk-in and scheduled one-on-one tutoring for all disciplines at the Portsmouth Campus. The LAC offers a mini-computer lab and software to assist students with their courses. The LAC also has small study areas where supplemental instructors can facilitate small group discussions and tutors can assist students. All of these services are designed to help students be successful in their academic studies.
