1. The tuition at the community college is much lower than at local universities who offer ESL

2. Financial aid is available for ESL students who qualify

3. After taking a placement test, students are placed into classes by skill area. Therefore, if you are strong in speaking and listening. but you are weak in grammar, you will be placed at a lower level grammar class and a higher level speaking class.

4. Diagnostic testing is completed on the first day of class each semesterto be sure you are placed at the right level. If your score on diagnostic testing shows you should be at a higher leve,, you will be moved to the appropriate class level.

5. TOEFL scores of students who have completed the ESL program at TCC average between 550 and 630.

6. The ESL Tutor Center is staffed with ESL faculty proide FREE tutoring on walk-in  or appointment basis.

7. TCC classes are small as each class averages between 8 and 18 students.

8. Blackboard  sites are used for each ESL class allowing students to access assignments, grades, class discussion, and their instructor from home.

9. ESL students have access to all services on the campus - such as the library, the women's center,counseling, the tutoring center, the math lab, the student employment office, etc.

10. ESL students at TCC come from all over the world.  In one class of 15 students, only three may come from the same country! You will make new friends as you practice your English together!
