"Navigating with the Stars:

Search for Longitude"

(Wide screen movie presentation)

May 10, May 18, and May 24 - 7:00 pm.

Naval navigation during the late 18th and early 19th centuries relied completely on celestial observations, coupled with the use of maps and charts.  These programs will show attendees how sailors at the time of the War of 1812 had to rely on the stars to navigate the open waters.

June 1 and June 7 - 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm

Place:  Tidewater Community College Planetarium

            Virginia Beach Campus Science Building

The TCC Planetarium has a state of the art Digistar 3 Laser Projector housed in a 40 foot dome with 81 permanent seats.

 

Parking: Park in the parking lot closest to the ATC. The science building is to your left as you face               the ATC. Go through the sliding doors. Campus map

 

RESERVATIONS ARE NOT REQUIRED - IT WILL BE FIRST COME - FIRST SERVED

 

NOTES:

  • Food, drinks, and chewing gum are not allowed in the planetarium.
  • No one will be admitted late, and if you leave during a show you can not be readmitted.
  • The theater is accessible to wheelchairs.
  • Must be at least 4 years old. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
