Turning spaces into inviting living areas

Tidewater Community College’s interior design program provides a foundation in both commercial and residential design. And it is one of two programs offered within Virginia’s Community Colleges, providing an affordable option to private design schools. TCC interior design students work on the latest industry software and gain skills in many areas, including visual presentation, space planning, color theory and selection, material selection, estimating and construction documentation.

Associate of Applied Science - Interior Design

Design a future in both commercial and residential spaces by developing skills in visual presentation, spatial and lighting design, color coordination, material selection, estimating, and contract planning. You’ll also work with state-of-the-art technology that incorporates interior design with the latest versions of computer-aided design software.

Career Studies Certificate - Associate Designer

Career Studies Certificate - Green Design for Interiors

Learn to create beautiful spaces that are functional and protect the environment with the inclusion of more eco-friendly materials, from lighting and appliances to paint. Graduates will be able to assist clients in building homes that are healthier, energy efficient, and green. Course work qualifies students to sit for the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Designs) certification for homes.

Career Studies Certificate - Kitchen & Bath Design

Build a successful career by learning the latest in kitchen
and bath design. Based on the requirements of the National
Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), classes range from
three-dimensional drawing to lighting and furnishings to
kitchen and bath construction.

The Career Studies Certificate in Green Design for Interiors is based upon the requirements for LEED Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), and is designed to prepare individuals to take the LEED Certification exam for Homes (LEED-H).

Graduates of the Kitchen and Bath Design Program are prepared to apply through the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) to take the certification exam for the Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) certification.
