| IPO Program Honored
by ACE |

Most recently, TCC was recognized
by ACE Foundation honoring the work done by the committee on international
programs.
Kudos would be due to Barbara Johnson, current chair
for the International Education Committee, for winning a grant under
the new FIPSE (Fund for Improving Post-secondary and Secondary Education)
program, Disseminating Proven Reforms. The grant will fund a two-year
project to desseminate the TCC model for international education
to five community colleges -- two in Virginia, two in Colorado and
one in North Carolina. The projects first meeting was November 1998
at TCC
FIPSE grants are very difficult to win, and are considered
to be the most prestigious of all federal grants for education.
According to the request for proposals for the grant, the program
will fund only projects proven to be effective.

| Damiani
Awards |

Each year the International Education Committee presents
the Damiani Award, named in the memory of Dr. Brian Damiani our former
Division Chair on Chesapeake Campus, this award is presented to the administrator
who, in the eyes of the committee, has done the most to further international
education at TCC. Nominations will be accepted in the International Programs
Office through the end of the fall semester.
