International Student Dinner 2001

Some of TCC's International Students.

Each
year, International Student Services in conjunction with
the International Programs Office and Student Activities
(Virginia Beach), organizes an International Student Dinner.
The dinner is open to all students and staff of TCC, but
its focus is on international awareness. Guests are asked
to bring a covered dish that represents their native country,
and the international students provide entertainment in
a talent show type of format. This year's dinner also included
a professional band. The dinner is an enjoyable way for
our international students to meet people outside of their
curriculum (ESL or English as a Second Language).
It is also a good way for our American staff to gain some
exposure to different cultures and foods. Please browse
through the following photos to get an idea of what the
International Dinner was like.

In
an unusual "twist", this year's dinner featured
Salsa lessons for anyone sassy enough to give it a try. |

Carmen
Gonzalez and her sister "get busy" and show
us how it's done. Ah, the life of a Salsa Queen...

Just
like the song, Susan de Veer of International Student
Services dances the night away to the rock 'n' roll
rythms of the band "Decades." |

The
crowd enjoys a martial arts demonstration from two
young brothers in our ESL program. They are Wahsei
& Sam Miran.
