Subcommittees (2009-10)
* International Education Week/Student Connections: This subcommittee will continue its work with the International Student Alliance (ISA) on planning and logistical arrangements for International Education Week. Following that event, this committee will work with students in general and the ISA in particular to help the GLC’s work to reach our students. Members: Gabriela Toletti, Danielle McLemore-Giscombe, Azam Tabrizi

* International Awareness
: This subcommittee will continue working out details of the “Jefferson Café” international fellowship and scholars group. If that sounds foggy, that’s because it is: we need pioneers here to shape the dream into a reality and a plan to make it happen. Members: Gabriela Toletti, Jai Stofocik, Mike Bryan, Carol Hodges

* International Reorganization
: This subcommittee will continue to build on the progress made last year with the study abroad process reform, and continue poking the 800-pound gorilla that is blocking our progress on a formal definition of an international course requirement. If we make him uncomfortable enough, maybe he will move! This group is encouraged to work alongside the curriculum committee. Members: Tom Feist, Fran Jacobson, Mike Bryan

* Strategic Plan
: Several years ago, the GLC developed a strategic plan that it intended to take to the top for approval. It represents a sensational start and needs to be dusted off, polished and refined, and ultimately submitted for consideration as was originally intended. Members: Tom Feist, Mike Bryan

* Title VI-a Grant: This subcommittee will work with the International Programs Office on the Title VI-a grant proposal, which centers on establishing a “global fellows” program at TCC. It's essentially travel abroad professional development for small groups of TCC faculty, who return home to share the knowledge in measurable ways. Each trip involves multiple disciplines, and focuses on connecting them through common issues, for example the impact of climate change from the perspective of an economist or a biologist. This subcommittee will remain fairly low-key until the call for proposals is issued, at which point things will get crazy! Members: None
