Study Abroad Scholarships



A limited number of International Programs Office scholarships is available for qualified students who are accepted to a TCC faculty-led Study Abroad program, have made their program deposit, and agree to register for the course associated with their program. Funds are limited, so please apply early.

The 2014 IPO scholarship application deadline has CLOSED.

Study Abroad Scholarship Eligibility

        Successful Applicants Should:


  • Have submitted a Study Abroad Program Application, with the appropriate deposit, and have been accepted into a TCC faculty-led Study Abroad program
  • Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Be enrolled at lease half time (6 credits)
  • Have completed at least nine curricular (non-developmental) credits at TCC at the time of application
  • Use the scholarship award for one of TCC's faculty-led Study Abroad programs
  • Register for the course associated with the program
  • Not be a full-time TCC employee
  • Not have previously received a scholarship from the International Programs Office for a TCC Study Abroad program
  • Not have graduated from TCC prior to program departure

Boren Awards for International Study

The applications for the 2013-2014 David L. Boren Scholarships and Fellowships are now available at:

Boren Awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East, where they can add important international and language components to their educations.


Boren Scholars and Fellows represent a variety of academic backgrounds, but all are interested in studying less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili. As part of the African Languages Initiative, Boren Award applicants have the opportunity to further their study of Akan/Twi, Hausa, Portuguese, Swahili, Wolof, Yoruba, or Zulu. Undergraduate students can receive up to $20,000 for an academic year’s study abroad and graduate students up to $30,000 for language study and international research. In exchange for funding, recipients commit to working in the federal government for a minimum of one year.
