| 1. How can someone apply for the Norfolk Naval
Shipyard Apprentice Program? |

Online applications for the apprentice program are not accepted unless the program is open. Applicants can, however, create their account through the "CHART" program (Civilian Hiring and Recruitment Tool), and follow the Admissions Process (including assessment/placement test) for Tidewater Community College. For NNSY Apprenticeship program and eligibility requirements or other employment related concerns, please visit NNSY web site at www.nnsy1.navy.mil/hro/apprentice.htm, or contact NNSY Apprentice Program Training Department at (757)396-4777, (757)396-3407, or Human Resources at (757)396-7126.

| 2. I have credits from another college; can
I use them in place of required classes in the Apprentice Program? |

In order for prior college, university, or military courses
to be considered in your program, an official transcript from
the awarding institution must be sent to:

You must complete the
Request for Evaluation
of Previous Educational Experiences form.
Once this has been done, contact Mr. Steinhauer to explore possible
substitutions. |
| 3. I have other Tidewater Community College
courses I have taken; can I use those in place of required courses
in the Apprentice Program? |

Often you can use other courses in place of required courses
in your program. Contact Mr. Steinhauer to discuss possible
substitutions. |
| 4. I was in the military; do I need to take
physical education? |
| |
No, you must have copies of your military records (DD214)
sent to TCC and complete the Request for Evaluation
of Previous Educational Experiences form.
