Process for Enrolling Tech Prep Students

1. An eligible student receives a Tech Prep Packet from the high school counselor, by request to TechPrep@tcc.edu, or from the TCC Information Center, 757.822.1122.
   
2. The student submits the following forms to the Tidewater Community College Enrollment Services Office on the campus where the student plans to attend:
   
   • TCC Application
   • Tech Prep Articulation Request Form
   • Unofficial copy of high school transcript
3. Prior to enrolling the campus Enrollment Services Office must process the student's application.
   
4. The following must be completed:
• The student must take the TCC placement test/compass.
• The student must set up an appointment with the TCC campus Tech Prep counselor to verify appropriate program and credits.
• The student must enroll in the Associate in Applied Science Degree at Tidewater Community College that corresponds with the Career and Technical Program taken in high school.
• Using the Tech Prep Articulation Request Form, a current TCC curriculum sheet a copy of the student's high school transcripts, and a copy of the Tech Prep Articulation Agreement the counselor will assist the student in determining the credits he/she may be eligible to receive through the articulation agreement. Content issues related to the articulated courses will be referred to the appropriate division chair.
  
  

The awarded credit is based on the articulation agreement that was in effect at the time the student took the career/technical courses in high school.



• Once these credits have been verified, the counselor assists the student in planning a schedule and registering for classes.
  
5. Copies of the Tech Prep Articulation Request Form are forwarded to the TCC Tech Prep Coordinator on the Virginia Beach Campus for review.
   
6. The Tech Prep Articulation Request Form will be returned to the TCC Tech Prep counselor after it has been reviewed and approved/disapproved.
   
7. The Central Records office will award the articulated credit to the student once the official high school transcript is received and verified. Any discrepancies will be forwarded back to the TCC Tech Prep Coordinator.
