Tidewater Community College's outreach advisors are based in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach public high schools. They are ready to help high school students explore career and post-high school educational opportunities.
Our high school outreach advisors provide the following services to high schools students:
- one-on-one college advice
- help completing your TCC application
- answers to your questions about TCC’s admissions process
Kita is committed to helping others achieve their short and long term goals, and her experience with traditional and non-traditional students at community colleges and universities is invaluable to her work as a TCC career advisor.
In her role, Kita helps students identify their greatest interests and abilities; provides access to a variety of resources; and works to develop career goals. She also teaches Student Development courses at TCC and is a member of the Recruitment Advisory Team.
Kita is a member of SACSA-Sothern Association for College Student Affairs and NACE-National Association of Colleges and Employers. She has also served as a career services director, academic advisor, and Bridges out of Poverty certified trainer. She has presented career development and student support sessions at the Virginia Community College Association’s annual conferences.
Kita holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Middle Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in organizational leadership with a student affairs emphasis from Regent University.

Ashley has several years of experience in high school and elementary counseling and has always been dedicated to assisting students finding their passion in life.
She has worked with at-risk children and teens and has always wanted to show them that there was light at the end of the tunnel. Ashley is committed to helping lead students to find their goals, work towards them, and work through all adversities to achieve them.
“Educating students on their level, seeing that gleam of hope, and allowing them to choose their own career path to success is very rewarding experience that I do not take for granted," she says.
Ashley holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Delaware State University and a master’s degree of arts in school counseling from Norfolk State University.

Kelsey has more than seven years of experience helping students achieve their goals. She has served as a substitute teacher in the Virginia Beach public school system, counseled at-risk youth and mentored teens. Kelsey enjoys building relationships with students and being an on going resource students can utilize throughout their education.
Kelsey holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in community counseling from Regent University. She is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Board Certified Coach (BCC).
