Transfer students

From anywhere, come to TCC

You are a transfer student if you have previously enrolled at another college (or colleges) and intend to pursue your degree or certificate at TCC.

Generally, if you are eligible for re-entry at your previous institution, you are eligible for admission to TCC.

So, welcome. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth admission process.

After you complete the application, you will receive a confirmation email with immediate feedback on your application status and a link to set up your student account through the myTCC portal.

Step 8: Transfer Your Credits and Previous Experiences

Your previous experiences and college credits can be evaluated by the Office of the College Registrar for applicable credit toward your degree or certificate.

Here's how to get started.

1. Be accepted for admission to TCC

2. Select an associate degree or certificate program

3. Have your official transcripts* mailed to:

Tidewater Community College
Office of the College Registrar
P.O. Box 9000
Norfolk, VA 23509-9000

4. Submit a Request Transfer Evaluation.

Evaluations are generally completed during your first semester at TCC. Evaluations are curriculum-specific. If you change your major, a new evaluation will be necessary.

5. See how your credits may transfer.  Use the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) as a guide to see which courses you may be eligible to receive from your previous institutions.

* An official transcript must be in the sealed, original envelope from the issuing institution, with the appropriate college seal and authentication.
