Visiting students

Home from college? Get ahead on your studies

Tidewater Community College welcomes students from other colleges or universities to take advantage of our course offerings.

Some students take TCC courses while they're attending ODU, NSU or other local schools.

Or, if you're away at school, get ahead by taking a class at TCC while you're home for the summer. Earn 3 credits in just 6 weeks!

Search TCC’s class schedule to find a course that fits your schedule. IMPORTANT: If you plan to transfer credits, consult with an academic advisor at your home institution before enrolling.

Follow these steps

Apply for admission

Apply to TCC using our online application. You can save your application and finish it later.

You will be assigned a 7-digit Student ID number when you complete the application. Write this number down.

We recommend printing the application for your records.

Are you under the age of 24? Your parent or guardian may need to answer questions to determine your eligibility for in-state tuition rates.

Activate your TCC email account

Log in to myTCC frequently to check your student email. Messages from TCC about your application and courses will be sent only through this account.

Submit the prerequisite waiver

If the TCC course you want to take has pre-requisites, the online prerequisite waiver demonstrates you have met them at your home college or university.

Get the form

  • You will need to submit a waiver for each TCC course you want to take.
  • You will also need to provide an unofficial transcript from your home institution.
Register for classes

After TCC has processed your waiver, you will be cleared to register for your class or classes using the online registration system.

Get your student ID

Your student ID card is a wonderful resource that allows you access to student services and events and provides discounts with numerous local merchants.

You can also elect to participate in our StormDollars plan, which allows you to go cashless when you make purchases and print documents on campus. Simply swipe and go!

You are eligible for your ID card after you register for classes. Bring a photo ID and your SIS Student ID number to any of the ID card campus offices.
