TCC International Education Week

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2009

Brazilian Carnival Celebration
Location: Chesapeake Campus Student Lounge
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Musical Performances, Dancing, Snacks. ISA members will be present to model traditional Brazilian Carnival costumes.

 

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2009

Futsal Soccer Event
Location: Chesapeake Campus
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in an informal game of Futsal Soccer, and learn about this popular international sport from a local team.

 

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2009

International Student Alliance Showcase
Location: TCC Roper Theater, Norfolk Campus
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Featuring various student and professional artists and musicians who will be performing original songs, dances, and skits
* This event will be opened to the general public.

 

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2009

International Symposiums (To be held on each of the four campuses)
Norfolk
Location: Norfolk Campus
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The symposium will showcase a variety of original art pieces. Students will also be given the opportunity to participate with members of the International Student Alliance in creating an internationally-themed work of art and answer any questions that students may have about getting involved with the ISA.
*The Norfolk event will be opened to the general public.

Chesapeake
Location: Chesapeake Campus Provost Conference Room #2057
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The International Student Alliance will present a panel of international students and faculty members to introduce students to the various cultures that are represented on their campus. Students will also be given the opportunity to participate with members of the International Student Alliance in creating an internationally-themed work of art and answer any questions that students may have about getting involved with the ISA.

Virginia Beach
Location: Virginia Beach Campus Cafeteria
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
ISA members will be staffing a table in the Virginia Beach Cafeteria to disseminate information about the ISA and introduce them to some of the international students on campus. Students will also be given the opportunity to participate with members of the International Student Alliance in creating an internationally-themed work of art and answer any questions that students may have about getting involved with the ISA.

Portsmouth
Location: Portsmouth Campus, Beazley Building, Room 411
Time: 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Gabriela Toletti will be hosting a presentation about the South American nation of Uruguay, and presenting information about an upcoming Study Abroad program with TCC. Students will also be given the opportunity to participate with members of the International Student Alliance in creating an internationally-themed work of art and answer any questions that students may have about getting involved with the ISA.

 

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2009

International Dinner and International Fashion Walk
Location: Virginia Beach Campus Cafeteria
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join the ISA for an evening of fun, music, and international cuisine. There will be an International Fashion Walk at 7:00 p.m. with models presenting traditional clothing from around the world.
