Proctoring for Online Courses
TCC faculty use a variety of testing methods to assess student progress and achievement. In some online courses, faculty may require proctored examinations. A proctored exam is administered and supervised by a person (the proctor) in a controlled environment such as a testing center. TCC maintains a testing center on each of its four campuses where an online student may be required to go to complete specific exams or assignments. If you are unable to visit one of TCC's testing centers and your instructor requires proctored tests or assignments, contact your instructor to discuss alternative proctoring arrangements. Any costs associated with proctoring outside of TCC facilities are the responsibility of the student.
NEW for Fall 2013! Partnering with Software Secure, remote proctoring will be available for students enrolled in online classes. Remote proctoring provides an easy way to take proctored, on-demand, online exams using your own computer and webcam. There is a $15 fee to take each exam, and both you and your computer desktop will be recorded for review. Contact your instructor to see if remote proctoring is an option in your online class.
