Proctoring for Online Courses
TCC faculty use a variety of testing methods to assess student progress and achievement. In some online courses, faculty may require proctored examinations. A proctored exam is administered and supervised by a person (the proctor) in a controlled environment such as a testing center. TCC maintains a testing center on each of its four campuses where an online student may be required to go to complete specific exams or assignments. If you are unable to visit one of TCC's testing centers and your instructor requires proctored tests or assignments, contact your instructor to discuss alternative proctoring arrangements. Any costs associated with proctoring outside of TCC facilities are the responsibility of the student.
Remote proctoring provides an easy way to take proctored, on-demand, online exams using your own computer and webcam. Contact your instructor to see if remote proctoring is an option in your online class.
**IMPORTANT** Software Secure Notice of MAC 10.10 Yosemite Not Currently Supported
APPLE has recently noted that it expects to release its newest Operating System (OS), MAC 10.10 (or Yosemite), on October 21st, 2014. Currently, our developers are reviewing both the Remote Proctor NOW and Securexam Browser programs to ensure we can support the new OS as quickly after the release as possible. However, please ensure students neither purchase nor attempt to use or upgrade to MAC 10.10 until after Software Secure has confirmed compatibility. More information will be made available within the next several weeks.
