College
Automotive Program: Chrysler (CAP)
Introduction
Launched in June 2004,
the CAP program at Tidewater Community College offers students the
opportunity to train and work in a Chrysler, Jeep, or Dodge dealership.
This 2-year program combines theory, hands-on work, and live shop
work in order to give the student the most up-to-date training available.
Students train on the latest Chrysler products and equipment. After
graduating with an Associates in Applied Science degree in Automotive
Technology, students continue to pursue their career as an automotive
technician at the sponsoring dealership.
How
to Apply Applying to
the program follows the same guidelines for admission to the college. Scholarships
and financial aid are also available. Click on the link below for more details.

Courses
Students enrolled in
the CAP program will follow the Automotive Technology curriculum.
However, these courses are taught using Chryslers specific
curriculum, special tools, and vehicles. In addition the cooperative
education courses must be completed in a sponsoring Chrysler, Jeep,
or Dodge dealership. See curriculum info: Associate
In Applied Science Degree: Automotive Technology (909.00)
All 'hands-on' work is
performed at an off-campus location called the Regional Automotive Center . Academic classes are held on
each of the four TCC campuses.
Residency Program Students
from outside the Tidewater area may still participate in CAP through the residency
program. Once a student has found a sponsoring dealer in their home area, the
student attends classes for 8 weeks while staying in local housing. The following
8 weeks are spent completing their cooperative classes back at the students
home dealership. This continues until the student completes the program. TCC has
negotiated reduced rates with local hotels for students. Contact Bud Brueggeman
for more details. Local
