How does adding a inspiratory hold or pause effect inspiratory time, expiratory time
and I:E ratio ?
Equipment
- Hamilton Medical Galileo ventilator, set up as a time cycled ventilator
- IngmarTest lung, equipped with patient simulator
Constant settings
To demonstrate the effect that inspiratory hold has on inspiratory time,
expiratory time and the I:E ratio ,the following ventilator settings will be held
constant, while the %Inspiratory hold is gradually increased and data collected.
- volume oriented time cycled ventilation
- Assist control mode
- rate of 15
- inspiratory time% 25
- Square wave
- Fio2 1.00
- PEEP 5
- Sensitivity pressure trigger -3cmh2o
Before you look at the data what do you think will happen to the inspiratory time,
expiratory time and the I:E ratio?
