How does changing the Tidal Volume in Control Mode (CMV) effect other
paramaters?
Equipment
- Hamilton Medical Galileo ventilator, set up as a time cycled ventilator
- IngmarTest lung, equipped with patient simulator
Constant settings
To demonstrate the effect that tidal volume change as on other paramaters, the
following ventilator settings will be held constant, while the tidal volume is
increased.
- volume oriented time cycled ventilation
- Assist control mode
- rate of 15
- inspiratory time% 25
- Square wave
- Fio2 1.00
- PEEP 5
- Sensitivity pressure trigger -3cmh2o
Tidal Volume change
As the tidal volume is increased the following parameters will be monitored for
changes.
- PIP. peak inspiratory pressure.
- Inspiratory time
- Expiratory time
- Peak inspiratory flow
How do you think these paramaters will be effected by changes in tidal volume?
Examine the following waveforms for clues.
