  2. no,it didnt. Why?

  3. Did the peak flow change?
  4. You bet it did. Did it increase or decrease?

  5. Did the Inspiratory time change?
  6. Yes. How does decreasing the rate effect inspiratory time? How does increasing the rate effect inspiratory time. What are the implications for a patient.

    Imagine if you will, that you are working in the ICU and get orders to change the patients ventilator control rate. So you make the change. But you didn't just change the rate did you? In fact, you changed the inspiratory time and the time available to exhale. You also changed the patients I:E ratio, all with just one adjustment.

    Not  having adequate inspiratory flow can be exceptionally distressing for a patient.
