III. Course Description: Teaches the history of modern management
theories, including scientific management and behavioral scientist approach.
Introduces concepts of group dynamics, leadership, communication, stress, time
management, and personnel evaluation techniques. Discusses the legal and
ethical considerations of personnel management in the emergency service.
IV. Course
Objectives: To assist the student to

Identify management
styles and those who have lead the way to the development of leadership and
management models

Identify the
different ways to deal with individual and group relations with emphasis on
team building, ethics and diversity
·
Recognize
appropriate personnel issues as they apply to appraisals, discipline and the
impact on employee behavior
·
Evaluate methods
of utilizing available resources and determining appropriate training methods
and equipment to best afford workers the skills needed to succeed
·
Identify and
assess safety needs for employees and legal issues that affect both the workers
and the organization
