is a proxy service?
Using a username and
password a proxy service verifies you are an authorized user
and allows you to access full text databases and other resources
from the convenience of your home or other off-campus location.
The Virginia Community College System (VCCS), TCC, and VIVA
(the Virtual Library of Virginia) provide access
to a number of licensed
electronic databases, (e.g., InfoTrac, FirstSearch,
etc.) The license agreements for these databases require
we
restrict use to persons affiliated with the above. If you
are a currently registered student, a faculty or staff member
of
the VCCS or one of its colleges, you are authorized to use
these resources through the VCCS proxy service. You will
need a computer
with an Internet connection, a username, and a password.
Accounts should be available by the first day of classes of
the current
semester.

What
is my username and password?
Your username and password is the same as you use for
BlackBoard or myTCC. If you do not know your username
and password you can look
it up using myTCC.
What is the best way to log in to the databases?
Once you log in to myTCC use BlackBoard. You should be
able to use most databases without logging in again. Click
on the Research tab to use the library web site.
Click
on a database, what happens if I'm off campus and I
haven't logged in to myTCC?
When you click
on one of the licensed resources you will see a screen
asking for your username and password. You may be asked
to enter your username and password more than once, depending
on the databases you elect
to use.
Are
you having problems?

To invoke a proxy login box you need to click
on one of our resources,
then
enter
your
username
and
password.

Set Internet Explorer to "Accept All Cookies". How?
- Firewalls are security measures placed on computer
networks. If your computer is protected by a firewall
our proxy
service will not work. You might try speaking with
your computer network administrator.
- WebTV will not work
with our proxy service.
- Accounts should be available by

and

for all age ranges and interests.
