Telecourse Circulation Policy LRC@TCC

Class rosters - A student’s name must appear on the class roster in order to be permitted to checkout telecourse tapes. Each semester the Media Resources supervisors will print the class rosters at the beginning of the semester and after the final add date which is at the end of the first week of classes. If students wish to checkout tapes before then, and their names do not appear on the roster, they must show proof of registration/payment.

Library cards - Each student must have a valid TCC ID or a temporary LRC card in order to checkout tapes. (Temporary cards are good for 28 days.) A driver’s license, military ID, or any other form of identification is not acceptable as an alternative. Students may not send other students, relatives, or friends with their card to pick up the tapes. Exceptions for extenuating circumstances must have prior approval from a librarian.

Checkout - Each tape has four programs on it. A student may have only one tape for each telecourse in which they are enrolled checked out at a time. Any student may checkout tapes from any of the Media Resources locations. Students do not necessarily have to use their home campus or the one offering the telecourse if another location is more convenient. Exceptions for extenuating circumstances must have prior approval from a librarian.

Renewal - Tapes can be checked out for 48 hours with one renewal. Renewals may be done in person or by phone if students talk directly to a member of the Media Resources staff. No renewals are accepted on the answering machine.

Holds - Holds are not placed on telecourse tapes. All tapes are checked out on a first come-first served basis.

Shelf copy - Only copies which have been dubbed for overnight viewing can be checked out. One copy will always remain in Media Resources for in-house use.

Incomplete grade - Students who receive a grade of incomplete and wish to continue to check out the telecourse videos should ask the instructor to notify the Media Collection Development Librarian or the campus Media Resources Supervisor. The notification will be valid for one semester only.
