Fall 2010 Convocation
On Aug. 16, a nearly full house at TCC’s Roper Performing Arts Center greeted President Deborah M. DiCroce for her annual State of the College Address.
Hundreds of faculty and staff members gathered that morning for a social hour followed by a video showcasing new employees, a welcome by Vice President Daniel DeMarte and the college update by President DiCroce.

Citing enrollment increases in numerous categories, while facing continued budget cuts, the president covered a range of topics, from serving an expected 50,000 students in 2010-11 to tailor-made training partnerships with 1,375 local firms to noting ambitious capital projects, including opening the new Portsmouth Campus this past spring and upcoming completion of the first student center and the Regional Health Professions Center.
The morning concluded with a question-and-answer session with Dr. DiCroce and executive staff. Discussion ranged from textbook policy to honors programs to online classes to changes in developmental math and English. Afternoon informational sessions focused on new curricular directions, student success, electronic resources, innovative apps for online learning and globalizing curriculum across TCC. |
