Red Carpet Screening

A well-heeled crowd – many dressed for a “Hollywood opening” – turned out for the TCC Alumni Association Red Carpet Screening of the college’s new ad campaign featuring alumni and students, held at the TCC Roper Performing Arts Center on Aug. 3.

Excitement mounted as nearly 100 guests walked the “red carpet” into the lobby which sported a movie-house theme. Alumni posed with two life-size Oscar-award statues, enjoyed theatre-style popcorn and candy, and remarked on some of their peers featured in “Coming soon” posters lining the runway.

TCC’s mascot, Storm, mingled with the crowd, hamming it up for photos, sharing in the anticipation of seeing the four new TV ads that local stations began airing this month.

“It took a village to make this TV and billboard campaign work,” notes Jerry Ortiz, TCC’s Alumni Association president and a liberal arts graduate who went on to earn a degree at ODU. More than 75 alumni and students gave up many hours this summer, some volunteering for multiple shoots, to take part in producing the ads.
