EARTH DAY OBSERVANCES AT TCC
Tidewater Community College will celebrate Earth Day on Monday April 22 with activities on each of its four campuses.
Chesapeake Campus hosts its Spring Plant Sale in the TCC greenhouses. The flowers, vegetables and herbs were grown by horticulture students during the spring semester. The sale hours are 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Students are invited to plant a container, provided by the TCC horticulture program, to enjoy this summer. The planting event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Norfolk Student Center lobby. Representatives from Keep Norfolk Beautiful and Norfolk Utilities will be on hand to answer questions and provide information.
A film highlighting Earth Day will be presented from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, on April 23, the community is invited to participate in a campus-wide plastic bag drive. All bags will be collected in the lobby of Building A. Those bringing in 20 plastic bags or more will receive a reusable shopping bag. On April 24 at 1 p.m. Ashley Lavender, an ODU doctoral candidate, will present a talk on “Earth in the Balance.”
Students and staffers are invited to celebrate the day by planting flowers to take home. In addition, participants will receive information on how they can impact the Earth in a positive way. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. in the Virginia Beach building, room 134/135.
