TCC welcomes Steve Yetiv, Ph.D., professor of political science and international studies at Old Dominion University, for International Education Week. Yetiv will deliver a keynote speech around the theme of "Dimensions of US and Global Energy Security."

Steve Yetiv is a professor of political science and international studies at Old Dominion University. He has won various awards, including the U.S. Secretary of State’s Open Forum Distinguished Public Service Award and the 2012 Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award - Virginia’s highest honor for teaching, research and service. An author of six books, including The Petroleum Triangle, Yetiv has been a consultant to the U.S. Departments of State and Defense; the U.S. General Accounting Office; and CNN International, where he worked on a documentary that won an Edward R. Murrow Overseas Press Club Award. He has published over 250 editorial pieces, including recent pieces in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, and has appeared in outlets such as CNBC, NPR, CSPAN and CNN. |

Join us for a film screening of La Yuma. This is a story about a strong-willed and rebellious girl from the poor neighborhoods of Managua, who dreams of being a boxer. The screening will be held in the Advanced Technology Center Theater on the Virginia Beach Campus, Nov. 13 at 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. After the 12:15 p.m. showing, Spanish Professor Gabriela Toletti and Tim Konhaus, professor of history/humanities, will lead a discussion about the themes of the film. The movie will also be shown at 5 p.m. in the Pungo auditorium at the Virginia Beach Campus.
This event is presented by the Global Learning Committee, the International Programs Office and Virginia Beach Student Activities.
