Granby Street Festival: TCC joins Friday's celebration with special activities, including a screening of The Artist
• A free screening of the Academy Award-winning film The Artist at the Roper Performing Arts Center
• Delectable recipes and samples from TCC’s culinary students
• Motorcycles from Workforce Development and a raffle to enroll in a free ridership course
• Hoops with the TCC basketball team
• Zumba!
These are just some of the highlights in store on Friday evening during TCC’s participation in the Granby Street Experience, a unique street festival that will turn the heart of downtown into a pedestrian mall. Granby Street will be closed to traffic beginning at 1 p.m. to make room for the festivities that begin at 6 p.m.
TCC also has some surprises in store, along with several giveaways, including a Nook Color!
Capping off the evening is the opportunity to see a movie about the golden age of film in TCC’s historic movie palace, The Roper. The 2011 Best Picture will begin at 8:40 p.m. Virginian-Pilot film critic Mal Vincent will deliver a pre-show chat on The Artist at 8:30 p.m.
