COX MEDIA AND ESPN BRING POPULAR SPORTS TRIVIA QUIZ SHOW
2-MINUTE DRILL TO TCC’s ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY CENTER
Chesapeake, VA (Sept. 3, 2003) – Cox Media and ESPN are
teaming up once again to bring the popular game show “2-Minute
Drill” back to Virginia Beach on Sat., Sept. 6 at 1 p.m.
The event, which will be hosted by Trey Wingo from ESPN’s
popular SportsCenter, will be held at TCC’s Advanced Technology
Center on Princess Anne Rd. The touring quiz show is a spin-off
of the popular ESPN TV game show of the same name in which contestants
battle to the finish by demonstrating their sports trivia prowess.
Cox Media is the advertising sales division of Cox Communications.
The first 100 contestants to show up at the event will compete
to earn the opportunity to test their knowledge of sports-related
trivia posed by ESPN personalities and sports celebrities. All
contestants will receive ESPN prizes, and the grand prize winner
will take their pick of an all-expense-paid trip for two to either
the X-Games in Los Angeles or the ESPY Awards in Hollywood.
“We’re thrilled to partner with ESPN to bring the
2- Minute Drill back to Virginia Beach,” said Frank Bowers
for Cox Communications. “Taking the 2- Minute Drill on
the road allows us to bring a popular national program to our
local sports fans. The event will be a great day out the whole
family will enjoy and an opportunity for people in our community
to win the trip of a lifetime.”
Last year, more than 400 people attended the 2-Minute Drill
event at Peabody’s at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The
grand prizewinner from Virginia Beach was a special guest of
Cox and ESPN at The ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.
New this year is the opportunity for attendees to play the Super
Shots Basketball Game and create their own customized vDVDideo
at the You Call the Play kiosk. Prizes are furnished by ESPN
and local event sponsors including Patriot Computers and Priority
Chevrolet. Cox Communications and ESPN are also sponsoring a
sweepstakes for a Sega Xbox and great ESPN Xbox games. Consumers
can register for a chance to win at Priority Chevrolet Toyota
or Patriot Computers locations.
