BARNES & NOBLE TO BEGIN SERVING THE TCC COMMUNITY
On-campus and online stores launch in February
HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – (Jan. 24, 2007) – Next month, the first Barnes & Noble Tidewater Community College Bookstores will open and begin serving TCC students, faculty and the surrounding communities.
The first store will open Feb. 1 at TCC’s Norfolk Campus. This temporary facility will be located on the sixth floor of the Martin Building at 300 Granby St. Four days later, three more Barnes & Noble college bookstores will open their doors at the Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach campuses.
For customers who prefer online shopping, Barnes & Noble is launching a new TCC bookstore website, http://www.tcc.bncollege.com. The website carries a full range of textbook, school supplies, apparel and gift items. Customers who shop TCC’s online bookstore can have their purchases delivered or pick them up at the appropriate campus location. In addition to purchasing textbooks and other goods online, students can find out which books the bookstore will buy back each semester. The new website also gives faculty the freedom to place textbook requests for the upcoming semester online, 24/7.
Later this year, Barnes & Noble and TCC will open a 28,000-square-foot “academic superstore” in MacArthur Center in downtown Norfolk. Once this superstore opens, the Portsmouth and Chesapeake locations will convert from bookstores to textbook distribution centers, open during peak book-buying periods, while the Virginia Beach store will remain open year round as a full-service college bookstore. Portsmouth and Chesapeake campuses will have kiosks open all year selling school supplies and incidentals. Following the opening of the MacArthur Center location, the Norfolk Campus bookstore will relocate to the academic superstore.
