LISA B. RHINE NAMED NEW PROVOST OF CHESAPEAKE CAMPUS

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (Aug. 6, 2013) — Lisa B. Rhine is the new provost of Tidewater Community College’s Chesapeake Campus.

Rhine brings more than 24 years of experience in student services and academic affairs at the community college and university level, most recently serving as interim vice president for student affairs at Northern Kentucky University.

“It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. Lisa Rhine to TCC, where I anticipate she will thrive as provost of the Chesapeake Campus,” TCC President Edna V. Baehre-Kolovani said. “She brings with her a wealth of experience in higher education, including outstanding results in academic excellence and student success. I know she is looking forward to becoming involved in the community and with the Chesapeake Public Schools.”

Rhine said, “Two things drew me to this position at TCC: the college’s national reputation as an innovative leader among community colleges and President Kolovani’s leadership style and vision for the future of TCC.”

Rhine began her career in higher education serving in various student services functions for 11 years at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. Subsequently, she took positions in academic affairs at the University of Dayton and then at Wittenberg University before returning to student services at Northern Kentucky in 2008. Her accomplishments include successful public/private partnerships, policy and program development, student retention and learning outcomes assessment.

She holds a doctorate in educational administration from Capella University and a master’s in special education from the University of Dayton. She earned her bachelor’s in rehabilitation counseling from Wright State University and has a certificate in deaf studies from Sinclair Community College.

“I am honored that I was selected as provost of the Chesapeake Campus,” Rhine said. “Chesapeake faculty and staff have a palpable passion for working with students and supporting their success. I share that passion and look forward to serving TCC and the Hampton Roads community.”

Interim Chesapeake Provost Greg Frank returns to his post as dean of the Division of Natural Sciences on the Virginia Beach Campus.
