TCC JOB FAIRS SEEK TO RECRUIT ADJUNCT FACULTY

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (April 8, 2013) — Tidewater Community College will hold four job fairs this month to fill out its ranks of part-time faculty.

Job fairs will be held on the Chesapeake Campus on April 18; on the Portsmouth Campus on April 19; and on the Norfolk and Virginia Beach campuses on April 20.

The college will be hiring for the summer session, which begins May 20, and the fall semester, which begins Aug. 22.

“In my visits to local business and community leaders in the last year, I found a wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise in high-demand occupational areas that could greatly benefit TCC students who will ultimately become employees of these local businesses,” TCC President Edna Baehre-Kolovani said. “We are seeking individuals who would love to share their expertise through our curriculum, and to help prepare the workforce of tomorrow and the graduates who transfer to four-year colleges.”

Part-time faculty members are needed for a variety of training and education courses. To teach courses that transfer to four-year institutions, such as mathematics and English, a candidate must have at least a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the applicable discipline. For career and technical courses, such as computer technology, welding and HVAC, either a bachelor’s degree or associate degree with work experience in the field is required.

Teaching experience is preferred.
