Do you believe that literacy is a human right? Make plans to attend the Literacy Lab On-Campus Interviews - Hiring Tutors! The Literacy Lab is a non-profit organization whose mission is to close the literacy achievement gap for elementary students in high-need communities. They are recruiting 75 tutors to provide individualized reading instruction to students who are on pace for 3rd grade reading failure in 30 schools across the greater Richmond and Hampton areas.

The Representatives from The Literacy Lab will conduct one-on-one resume reviews with interested students to share detailed information on the program and help applicants tailor their resumes to apply for program.

Seeking passionate, service-minded individuals who are committed to social justice. While experience working with children is helpful for this position, formal education experience is not required. This opportunity often serves as a stepping stone to various career paths. You will find more detailed information regarding this position below.

Tutors will:
• Serve full-time for an entire academic year in an assigned school
• Work with a caseload of about 15-18 students in need of targeted reading support
• Implement specific early literacy interventions, conduct weekly progress monitoring
• Work with a team of coaches to make data-informed decisions to ensure each child is on track to read proficiently
• Work to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and other staff
• Participate in community-based volunteer opportunities
