In order to use the Sigi3 online assessment you must be a currently registered TCC student. To access the assessment you will be directed to a site on VCCS's Blackboard server. On that site you will be instructed on how to create a personal profile so that you may access the system, track your progress, and have unlimited use to the career and college information provided.
The software is designed to be user friendly and self-directed, however feel free to share your assessment results and ask questions with your TCC advisor. Visit the TCC Counseling website for a list of counselors.

System Overview
Sigi3 software for the Web is divided into five main sections.
You can go through the entire program, or just the steps needed.
I. Starting
- Explains how simple the system is to use.
- Gives an overview of the program and
recommends a pathway suited to your particular needs
II. Assessment
- Helps evaluate your work-related values, interests and skills.
- With the help of the “values” game, you explore your work-related values in greater depth.
- Interests are examined by field of knowledge and types of activities
III. Occupational Information
- Creates a personalized list of occupations based on work-related values, interests, skills and level of education
- Allows a “negative” search; i.e., removes from the list occupations with features you want to avoid
- Search for occupations based on a major field of study, by job title, or by the results of your assessments.
- Get answers to as many as 27 questions about occupations
- Do a side-by-side comparison of different occupations
- Do a side-by-side factor comparison of up to 8 occupations with your assessment results or search criteria
IV. Analysis
A. Deciding
- Directs you in weighing the potential rewards and chances for success in potential careers
- You can evaluate up to 20 career choices at a time, including the work you're currently doing
B. Preparing
- Education and/or training requirements are described along with the major work tasks of chosen occupations
- Includes information about graduate and professional school
- Helps you estimate your chances of completing such preparation
- Helps you select a college or graduate school
C. Skills Check
- Learn what skills are needed in an occupation and whether you have those skills
- Examine your skills and workstyle for managerial and supervisory positions
V. Getting There
A. Coping
- Offers practical advice on securing financial aid, managing time, finding day-care facilities, job relocation, working at home, getting credit for learning through experience, and common worries
B. Next Steps
- Short-range goals are established and steps outlined that must be taken to achieve those goals
- Topics consist of: developing new skills, building a network of contacts, writing a resume and cover letter, and applying for jobs
