TCC's Student Employment Services offers you the opportunity to reach your goals. Whether you're a student looking for employment or a company seeking bright young professionals, put our vast array of services to work for you. We offer help to TCC's students and alumni throughout every stage of their job search, from choosing a career and building a résumé to honing occupational skills. Area companies are also given the opportunity to find employees that fit their company's needs.

Job Referral Service For Students and Alumni

The Student Employment Services Office offers a "Job Referral Service" designed to assist TCC students and alumni in finding employment. In order to utilize the service, you must be a current student or alumni of TCC and have at least a 2.0 GPA. One of the services consists of submitting your resume to prospective employers.  Your resume will be forwarded to the employer once it has been reviewed and approved (be sure your resume is error free).  Job opportunities can also be sent to you in the mail.  The following documents must be submitted to the office in order to utilize the service:

HireNet's Special Employment Center For Tidewater Community College

The TCC/HireNet.net web site program is available for you to view employment opportunities that are received daily from Hampton Roads/Peninsula employers as well as out-of-state employers: 

  •   Cooperative Education and Internship opportunities
  •   Full-time career employment
  •   Part-time employment
  •   Seasonal employment
  •   Federal Government, state and employment

The web site is available 24 hours a day and the employment opportunities are updated weekly.  These job opportunities are posted on-line at http://www.hirenet.net/jobs.cfm?orgid=jtcc3763:

  •  Access our database of full-time, part-time, cooperative education and internship listings.
  •  Access quality employers that are specifically looking for students and alumni.
  •  Create a Candidate Profile that provides prospective employers with detailed information about your      education, skills and work experience.
  •  Email your Candidate Profile to employers with openings matching your interests and skills.

CareerConnection Job Center Kiosk

The CareerConnection Job Center kiosk contains employment information from the Sunday's Virginian-Pilot newspaper (CareerConnection). Job seekers can view, print and apply for jobs at the touch of a finger. There is no resume or registration required.

Services Available To Employers - Choose From Numerous Bright Young Professionals

A free job posting service is available to employers who would like assistance with finding qualified employees. Job listings are posted and accessible on-line. Referral information about these listings is provided to qualified job seekers who have registered with the office.

Note: The office acts in a referral capacity and is not involved in the actual student hiring process. The employer makes all hiring decisions.

Employer On-Campus Recruitment

The office coordinates on-campus recruitment opportunities including an annual job fair.   This will allow employers the opportunity to interview TCC students and alumni for potential employment in their field of study.

Cooperative Education/Internships

Cooperative Education and Internship opportunities are also available through this office. The programs give students practical, valuable work experience in a field related to their studies. Students can also receive college credits for the experience. The Cooperative Education/Internship programs bridges the gap between classroom and on-the-job learning.
