Community College welcomes applications from international
students applying to attend TCC from overseas or from within the United States in F-1 visa status. The International Student Services office provides support services for TCC's new and current F-1 visa students. Currently, students from 37 different countries study at
TCC. International Student Services provides admission
assistance and immigration advising for all F-1 students at Tidewater Community
F1 Admission Checklist contains all the
forms and instructions required for admission to Tidewater Community
College pursuant to an I-20, as well as application deadlines. Please read the checklist very
carefully as incomplete
or missing documents will delay the admission review process.

Students present in the United States on certain temporary visas may be denied admission or restricted to incidental study, defined as part-time study that is avocational or recreational and does not lead to a specific educational or professional objective. Students in restricted categories will be limited to one course each semester, with enrollment approved by TCC’s International Student Services office.

school is authorized under Federal Law to enroll non-immigrant
F-1 visa students at Tidewater Community College may only enroll in classes required for the course of study listed on the form I-20 that are located at TCC’s four comprehensive campuses (Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach) and the Visual Arts Center. (Please note: students may continue to enroll in one 3 credit online course per semester to count towards full-time enrollment.) Enrollment in classes at any off-campus location is not permitted, and is considered to be a violation of status. There is no exception to this policy.
