Student Activities: TCC Golf Club

Purpose Statement

The TCC College-wide Golf Club represents an important aspect of student life and the collegiate experience at TCC. The club provides TCC students, faculty, and staff with opportunities to interact while improving their level of play. Equally important, the club allows participants to the engage in a healthy, active lifestyle.
First Organizational Meeting (Saturday July 11th from 8:00-9:00 at Honey Bee Golf Course)
The TCC Golf Club will be hosting an organizational meeting on Saturday July 11th from 8:00-9:00 at Honey Bee Golf Course. Honey Bee is located at 2500 South Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456). The meeting will be convened by Club President TJ Bogan with the following agenda: (1) Officers, (2) Budget, (3) Event Planning, and (4) Steps moving forward. Students with questions about the meeting should email TJ. Students interested in playing a round AFTER the meeting are encouraged to call Honey Bee Golf Course at (757) 471-2768 to secure a tee time. Students should also note that Honey Bee also has a driving range so that's another opportunity should any students NOT with to play 18.

First Event: Provisional Meeting was held on Friday May 1, 2009 at Lambert's Point Golf Course

* The club's provisional meeting coincided with the Thomas Moss Scholar's Golf Tournament on Friday May 1st at noon at Lamberts Point Golf Course. Six (6) students participated in the event, eaving just four (4) more signatures needed on the TCC Club Recognition Form to ensure official club status by the TCC Student Federation.

First Officer: TJ Bogan was appointed the club's first president

* Mr. TJ Bogan was officially appointed president of the TCC Golf Club by the faculty advisors and was subsequently charged with strategically planning the club (e.g., appointing officers, approving constitution, scheduling activities, creating budget, presenting information to Student Federation).

Membership Eligibility

* Students currently enrolled at TCC and administrators, faculty, and staff currently employed by TCC are eligible.
* It is preferred (but not required) that members own a set of golf clubs. Golf courses typically offer rental sets.
* It is preferred (but not required) that members have some experience playing golf.
* It is preferred (but not required) that members complete or are concurrently enrolled in PED 133 (2-credit course).

Anticipated Club Activities (Afterwork Hours and Weekends)

* Round play at free or reduced costs.
* Practice driving, chipping, and putting at designated location(s).
* Informal group tutorials provided by PGA professional at meeting location(s).
