| Chris R. Marcia Veterans Tribute Scholarship |
Description:
The College-wide Scholarship was established by Chris R. Marcia. Mr. Marcia served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service in the Marines, he attended Tidewater Community College (TCC) and went on to graduate from the University of Virginia. Mr. Marcia believes that the scholarships he received at TCC helped him to achieve his academic goals, and he is establishing this scholarship to help afford other veterans the same opportunities given to him. Scholarship funds should be used for tuition, fees, and books.
Criteria:
• Student can be a full-time or part-time student currently enrolled at TCC.
• Student must demonstrate financial need.
• Student must demonstrate academic merit through a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In the
case of no eligible applicants, a GPA of 2.7 will be considered.
• Student must have an honorable discharge from the military (DD214).
• Student must have served at least 3-years of active duty in the military (DD214).
• Student must submit a short essay (no more than 250 words) on:
• His or her defining moment in the military
• How the military experience will shape his or her future career goals

Description:
The College-wide General Scholarship was established through donations to the Tidewater Community College Educational Foundation. Scholarship funds should be used for tuition, fees, and books. |
Criteria:

Daniel C. Pettway Scholarship |
Description:
This scholarship was established by the Hampton Roads Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers to support future HVAC professionals. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with the student’s program. |
Criteria:
Student must be enrolled in one of the following programs: Engineering, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and/or the Computer Aided Drafting and Design Technology program.
Student must submit a short essay describing how he or she intends to use his or her TCC education to pursue a career in the HVAC industry, specifically by transferring to a four-year institution, taking a position with a supplier of HVAC equipment, and/or taking a position with an engineering/contracting firm as a designer/technician.
Student can be a full-time or part-time student.
Student must have completed at least 20 credit hours.
Student must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5. |

Description:
The Tidewater Community College Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is awarded annually to one TCC student. The scholarship is based on a full year's tuition and fees at the approved in-state rate and it is based on 15 credit hours for two semesters. The scholarship will be disbursed in two equal payments at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters and it can only be used at TCC. |
Criteria:
Student must be currently enrolled full time at TCC.
Student must have at least one semester remaining prior to graduation.
Student must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or
higher.
Student must have completed at least 12 credits at TCC.
Student must provide documented evidence of community service or service learning experiences (continuous committed service in the community) on company letterhead.
Scholarship recipient must attend the TCC Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Program held in February.
Submit the completed application to the location indicated on the scholarship materials by the posted due date. |

Description:
This scholarship was established by TCC Professor Mark Greer in 2007 in honor and in memory of his mother, Genevieve Greer. This endowed scholarship is meant to support female students who are pursuing higher education for the first time at a later point in life or who are returning to school after a break. Funds should be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with pursuing a degree at Tidewater Community College. |

| George B. Pass Memorial Scholarship |
Description:
George B. Pass, President of TCC for almost 25 years, was admired and respected for his outstanding ability to engage both elected and appointed state officials in the needs of the college. It was during Dr. Pass’s tenure that TCC grew from 1,000 to 20,000 students, and from a single campus to three campuses plus the Norfolk Skills Center. This scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to students involved in community service. The scholarship will be awarded to one student each year and is applicable to tuition only. |

Description:
This scholarship was established by Gerald and Kathleen Ortiz to support a student who graduates from TCC. The scholarship fund shall be used for tuition, books and course related expenses. |

Description:
This scholarship was established by The Greater Hampton Roads Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association to support a student who is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Technical Studies. The scholarship fund should be used for tuition, fees and books. |
Criteria:

Description:
Eight (8) $500 Scholarships for two (2) graduating seniors from each of the following cities: Chesapeake , Norfolk , Portsmouth , and Virginia Beach to attend ANY Tidewater Community College campus. |
Criteria:
Students should be pursuing an AAS Degree at TCC and should have taken some Career and Technical Education courses in high school.
Students should be registered as a full-time student at a TCC campus in the fall of 2005, with scholarship money available in early 2006.

| VCCS Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship |
Description:
The purpose of the Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship Program is to increase access to higher education and to develop student leadership potential. A $3,000 scholarship will be awarded for the fall 2011 and spring 2012 semesters. Awards may be used for tuition/fees and books and supplies. |
Criteria:
Commonwealth Legacy Scholars will be students attending college for the first time at a Virginia Community College.
Selections will be based on merit.
Scholars will demonstrate academic excellence during high school.
Scholars will demonstrate a willingness to promote community college education and the Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship Program.
Scholars will demonstrate a commitment to developing leadership potential.
Students must be full-time, associate’s degree seeking students with plans to graduate from a Virginia Community College.
If selected, recipients agree to:
Attend an orientation developed for Commonwealth Legacy Scholars
Participate in a minimum of two state-wide events annually
Participate in the annual Student Leadership program

Description:
VAC scholarships are awarded to current and incoming VAC students who are enrolled in one of our degree programs. |
Criteria:
• Awards are based on a review of a six piece portfolio judged by a
committee of VAC full time faculty. This judging usually takes place in June.
• Scholarship recipients must take at least six credit hours in the fall and
spring semesters. |
