The College-wide General Scholarship was established through donations to the Tidewater Community College Educational Foundation. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, books. |
Criteria:
Enrolled in a degree or certificate program
• Continuing student (minimum of 6 completed credits)
Cumulative GPA 2.5
• Scholarship is for tuition, fees, and/or books
• Funds to be equally awarded in two semesters
• Must be currently enrolled at TCC
• Amount of scholarship award per student not to exceed tuition, fees, and/or books
• Scholarship to be awarded fall, spring or summer semesers
• Letter of recommendation is required with application from one of the following:
TCC faculty member, faculty from another institution, or employer. |

| F. Ludwig Diehn Chorus Scholarship |
Description:
The F. Ludwig Diehn Fund of the Norfolk Foundation established a scholarship to students wanting to actively participate in the TCC Chorus. |
Criteria:
• Students must enroll in any Associate’s degree program at TCC
• Students must register for & participate in MUS 137/237 – Chorus at the TCC Portsmouth Campus
• Students must have and maintain an overall 2.5 academic GPA and a 3.0 GPA in MUS 137/237
• Student must audition for the director of the TCC chorus
• Students must assist in recruiting other students for the TCC chorus |

| Mary Ferrell Flickinger Scholarship |
Description:
When Mrs. Mary Flickinger died she bequeathed funding in her will to the Tidewater Community College Educational Foundation with the purpose of creating the Mary Ferrell Flickinger endowment. It was her desire to provide aid to TCC students to pay for their education. |
Criteria:
Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees and books
Scholarships of up to $1,500 can be awarded. The number of scholarships awarded each year will depend on the amount of funds available for distribution. If less than $1,500 is available, a scholarship for the amount available can be awarded.
Scholarship award criteria are as follows:
a. Available to full time or part time students
b. The applicant must have completed 6 credits
c. The applicant must be enrolled in degree or certificate program
d. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
e. Student should submit TCC scholarship application to their campus financial
aid office |

| HSBC Scholar Award |
Description:
The HSBC Scholar Award was established in 2006 by HSBC to recognize a young student at each campus who has achieved academic excellence. |
Criteria:
Available to full time or part time students
Any major is acceptable: student must include a typewritten paragraph with the application detailing his/her career goals
Minimum GPA of 2.8

This scholarship recognizes one student committed to the pursuit of academic excellence and is awarded annually. This scholarship is applicable to tuition and fees only. |

| Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship |
Description:
The Tidewater Community College Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is awarded annually to one Tidewater Community College student. The scholarship is in the amount of $3,026 and can only be used at Tidewater Community College. The scholarship will be disbursed in two equal payments at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. |
Criteria:
Be a currently enrolled student at Tidewater Community College
Must be enrolled full-time Fall 2008 and Spring 2009
Have at least one semester remaining prior to graduation from TCC
Be in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
Have completed at least 12 credits at TCC
Must attend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recognition Program, January 16, 2009
Provide documented evidence of community service or service learning experiences (continuous committed service in the community) on company letterhead.
Submit a completed application by the due date. Application deadline December 5, 2008.

| Chris R. Marcia Veterans Tribute Scholarship |
Description:
The College-wide Scholarship was established by Chris R. Marcia. Mr. Marcia served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service in the Marines, he attended and graduated from Tidewater Community College (TCC), and went on to graduate from the University of Virginia. Mr. Marcia believes that the scholarships he received at TCC helped him to achieve his academic goals, and he is establishing this scholarship to help afford other veterans the same opportunities given to him. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, and books.
Criteria:
• Student can be a full-time or part-time student currently enrolled at TCC
• Student must demonstrate financial need
• Student must demonstrate academic merit (minimum GPA of 2.7)
• Student must have an honorable discharge from the military (DD214)
• Student must have served at least 3-years of active duty in the military (DD214)
• Student must submit a short essay (no more than 250 words) on:
- His or her defining moment in the military
- How the military experience will shape his or her future career goals

NSU Science and Technology Scholarship

Description:
This scholarship was established to provide assistance for TCC students in the following Science and Technology fields: Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology, or Mathematics. These scholarships will end with the Spring, 2008 semester. Students receiving this scholarship at TCC are guaranteed a $1562.50 per semester scholarship at Norfolk State University if they matriculate by the Spring 2008 semester and only through that semester maintaining the status as above. This is valid only if the student transfers into one of the following programs: BS Computer Technology, BS. Computer Science, BS Mathematics, or BS in Optical or Electronic Engineering. |
Criteria:
• Must be a full-time TCC student during the semester for which award is made (minimum of 12 semester hours).
• Must be enrolled in one of the following Associate degree programs:

| George B. Pass Scholarship |
Description:
George B. Pass, President of TCC for almost 25 years, was admired and respected for his outstanding ability to engage both elected and appointed state officials in the needs of the College. It was during Dr. Passs tenure that the College grew from 1,000 to 20,000 students, and from a single campus to three campuses plus the Norfolk Skills Center. This scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to students involved in community service. This scholarship will be awarded to one student each year and is applicable to tuition only. |

Description:
The Students Serving Persons with Developmental Disabilities Scholarship was established by the SD Club to support deserving graduates of TCC's Special Education Program who are interested in pursuing a degree in Special Education or a related field at a four year institution. |
Criteria:
Active member of the Students Serving Persons with Developmental Disabilities (SD) Club
Graduate of TCC's Special Education Program with interest in pursuing Special Education or a related field at a four-year institution

| Short Term Study Abroad Scholarships for Non-Language Trips |
Description:
Each year the Student Opportunities Subcommittee of the International Education Committee awards partial scholarships to deserving students to study abroad. These scholarships will only defray the cost of the program, and students will need to contribute to the cost of their study abroad experience. |

| Tech Prep Scholarship |
Description:
Eight (8) $500 Scholarships for two (2) graduating seniors from each of the following cities: Chesapeake , Norfolk , Portsmouth , and Virginia Beach to attend ANY Tidewater Community College campus. |
Criteria:
Students should be pursuing an AAS Degree at TCC and should have taken some Career and Technical Education courses in high school.
Students should be registered as a full-time student at a TCC campus in the fall of 2005, with scholarship money available in early 2006.
Minimum 2.5 overall GPA. |

| Visual Arts Center Academic Scholarship |
Description:
VAC scholarships are awarded to current and incoming VAC students who are enrolled in one of our degree programs. |
Criteria:
Awards are based on a review of a six piece portfolio judged by a committee of VAC full time faculty. This judging usually takes place in June. Scholarship recipients must take at least six credit hours in the fall and spring semesters. |

Description:
Established from the proceeds of art work sold by a former TCC student, Hisayuki Yamaie. This scholarship is to assist students studying art at the TCC Visual Arts Center and who are children of members of the fire, emergency medical, or police services or of the U.S. military. |

Full-time student in good standing in one of the programs offered by the TCC Visual Arts Center .
