| Betty L. Shores Memorial Scholarship |
Description:
This scholarship was established in 1988 in remembrance of Betty L. Shores, a distinguished professor of mathematics and an active faculty member for sixteen years at the Virginia Beach Campus. The scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition and fees for two consecutive semesters with a stipend for books. |
Criteria:
A declared Mathematics, Engineering, Natural Science, or Health Science student
Completed at least two semesters at TCC, not less than six credit hours per semester
GPA of 3.0 or better in declared field, and 3.0 overall

Description:
This scholarship was established in 1997 by Mrs. Janelle S. LaBouvé in memory of her husband, Dr. Michael F. LaBouvé, former Provost of the Virginia Beach Campus. The scholarship funds should be applied to tuition and fees. |

Description:
This scholarship was established to support and encourage male students or prospective male students attending the Virginia Beach Campus of TCC who have demonstrated or may demonstrate an exceptional capacity for leadership and service. The funds should be used for tuition, fees, and books. |
Criteria:
• Student must be an enrolled or incoming male student of the Virginia Beach Campus of Tidewater Community College.
• Student can be a full-time or part-time student.
• If a continuing student at TCC, student must have an overall GPA of 2.5.
• If a new student at TCC, student must have a high school GPA of 2.8.
• Student must submit a brief essay on how he has demonstrated qualities of leadership and his plans for developing those skills in the future. |

Description:
This scholarship was established by the Tidewater branch of the International Food Service Exexcutives Association in honor of Frank Farerllo, DODG, CFE, a noted area chef. |
Criteria:

have completed at least two semesters at Tidewater Community College and carried no less than six credit hours per semester

Description:
This scholarship was established by Randall Brent and Linda Myers Rice in memory of Frank W. and Esther C. Myers and is intended to support a Health Professions student. |

One semester of a Health Science program completed with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
Financial need
Recipient will agree to mentor in a College community-based program at least one hour per week during the academic year

Description:
This scholarship was established in 2000 to assist declared A.S. Natural Science and Math students at TCC who are planning to major in some aspect of earth science at a four-year institution. |
Criteria:
Must have completed one year at TCC
Full-time continuing student (attending a minimum 12 credit hours per semester)
Must have taken at least 8 semester credits in geophysical sciences*
Plan to enroll at TCC for at least one more year

Description:
This scholarship was established in memory of Jeanette Hardage, a dedicated dietetics instructor on the Virginia Beach Campus. It is intended to encourage and assist one student each year in pursuing a career in dietetics. The scholarship funds can be applied to tuition, fees, books, child care, and travel expenses. |

| Michael J. French, Jr. Memorial Engineering Scholarship |
Description:
This scholarship was established in 2005 by the TCC Engineering Club in honor of Michael J. French, Jr., an oustanding student who passed away in 2004. The scholarship is intended to support excellent students in purusing careers in engineering through TCC's Engineering program. |
Criteria:
The scholarship is available to full time or part time students.
The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. In the case of no other eligible applicants, a GPA of 2.75 or higher will be considered eligible.
The applicant must list Engineering (831) as his/her major on TCC records.
The applicant must have completed at least 12 credits at TCC.
The applicant must have completed MTH 173 and EGR 120 or their equivalents.
The applicant must be enrolled for at least 6 credits at TCC that apply toward the A.S. degree in Engineering during the semester in which the scholarship is to be used. |

| National Instruments/Chris Grachanen Metrology Scholarship |
Description:
This scholarship was established in 2005 by National Instruments Company. The scholarship is intended to attract students to the field of metrology in order to alleviate a shortage of trained metrologists. The funds should be applied to tuition only. |
Criteria:
Must be or must have been a TCC student in good standing during the year immediately preceding the award.
Must be specializing in either mechanical or electronic metrology.
Must have a cumulative grade point average at TCC of at least 2.500.
Must have completed at least 32 credits toward the AAS degree with a specialization in Mechanical or Electronic Metrology.
Must submit a typed original essay describing his/her reasons for studying metrology and the anticipated benefits of the metrology curriculum. Optional additional topics include past experience in metrology, future and present career plans in metrology, and the importance of measurement expertise in industry. The essay should be not less than one nor more than two 8.5 x 11 inch sheets, double spaced, using 12 pitch Times New Roman or similar font. The essay is to be submitted to the Dean of Engineering and Industrial Technology at the Virginia Beach Campus after announcement, typically in the Fall semester, and prior to the middle of the following semester. The scholarship will typically be awarded in February.
May be required by the scholarship committee to be interviewed for selection from among finalists. The scholarship committee determines by consensus whether or not to hold interviews.
Award Amount: Selected recipients will receive an award of $1,000.00 to either be applied toward future courses taken toward the AAS degree or as reimbursement for courses completed that lead to the metrology specialization.
The recipient must send an acknowledgment letter to National Instruments and another letter to Mr. Chris Grachanen through the Development Office at the time of award. Original letters should be sent to Tidewater Community College , PO Box 3575 , Norfolk , VA 23514-9887 . The Development Office will distribute the letters.

Scholarship for students who have declared metrology as their major - $500
Scholarship for students who are taking a selected course in the metrology concentrations - for details see Par. 3. below.
Scholastic requirements for Metrology majors:
Must be a student at the Virginia Beach Campus.

CRITERIA
Scholarship award criteria for students who are taking a selected course in the metrology concentrations [all or part of the tuition for the course]
Must be a student at the Virginia Beach Campus.
Scholarship funding is awarded in the form of a tuition rebate of $100 to the first 10 students registering for one of the announced target courses.
Minimum overall GPA of 2.5
Eligible "target" course(s) for the spring semester will be announced by the Dean of Engineering and Industrial Technology during the fall semester. "Target" courses will typically be one of the following:

Description:
This scholarship ws established in 2003 by the National Conference of Standards Laboratories International. The scholarship is intended to attract students to the field of metrology in order to alleviate a shortage of trained metrologists. The funds should be applied to tuition only. |
Criteria:
Student Majoring in Metrology
· Student at the Virginia Beach Campus
· Completed a minimum of 32 credit hours toward the A.A.A. in Industrial or Electronics Technology with a concentration in Mechanical or Electronic Metrology

Description:
This scholarship was established by Nicholas and Helen Andrasz to support a student who is active in community service activities at the Virginia Beach Campus. The funds should be applied to tuition and fees. |

Has spent considerable amount of non-paid volunteer time helping make his/her community a better place in the following recognized categories:
- Hospital: volunteer in a public hospital or health clinic with the exception of Planned Parenthood

- Mentoring/tutoring: volunteer with boy's or girls' clubs, big brothers, big sisters, Scouting, etc.
- Shelters: volunteer in a shelter for the homeless, battered women or battered children
- Elder Care: volunteer with Meals on Wheels, senior citizen centers, or nursing homes

This scholarship was established by the Virginia Beach Restaurant Assocation in 2000 in memory of Frank Baumann, a long time member of the VBRA. It is intended to support a student in the Culinary Arts or Food Service Management program and should be applied to tuition and fees. |

Scholarship funds can be applied to tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with the Nurse Aide program. |
Criteria:
• Student must be enrolled in the Nurse Aide Program at Tidewater Community
College.

• Student must have not yet met the full cost of attendance.
