CENTRAL RECORDS / Registrar's Office: DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests)

DANTES Credit Granting Policy

If experience is the world's greatest teacher, then your experiences may well qualify you for college credit.
The nationally recognized DSST Program allows you to receive college credits for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom perhaps from reading, on-the-job training, or independent study. DSSTs offer students a cost effective, time saving way to use their knowledge acquired outside of the classroom to accomplish their educational goals.

The Central Records Office does not determine what DSST/DANTES examinations may be granted TCC credit or the score values required.  However, the Central Records Office does post credit for approved examination scores.  Students seeking credit should:

1)  Have official scores mailed to

Tidewater Community College
Central Records Office
P.O. Box 9000
Norfolk, VA 23509-9000

2)  Using the online form, submit a request for an Evaluation of Previous Educational Experiences to the Central Records Office.
