Career Information @ CHESAPEAKE CAMPUS

The Career and Employment Services Center of TCC-Chesapeake will be a resource for the college and the community in the area of career and educational planning by providing services and information that empowers individuals to develop career and educational goals and to develop the skills that will enable successful implementation of those goals.

Community college career services programs must meet the needs of students who are planning their initial entry into the job market, as well as those who are changing careers.  Both groups need activities to help them explore the full range of opportunities and adequately prepare themselves for employment.  

Objectives: 

  • Equip students with skills necessary to conduct a job search, write a resume, complete a job application, conduct themselves appropriately on a a job interview, develop contacts, etc.
  •  Teach students how to obtain additional occupational information through informational interviews and other research methods.
  •  Provide students with opportunities for job shadowing, internships, volunteering. 
  • Provide opportunities for students to meet, interact with and question people from a variety of occupations.  
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop networking skills, through contact with professional organizations, advisory committees, etc.
