New Base Access Procedures (effective January 2012)
TCC students that do not possess a valid Department of Defense (DOD) Identification (ID) Card and vehicle decal must obtain a temporary base and vehicle access pass from the Pass and Identification Office at Naval Station Norfolk prior to the first day of class.
To obtain a valid DOD ID Card and vehicle decal, the student’s name must be on the school roster (consolidated list) submitted by the Base Representative and approved by the Director, Navy College Office, Naval Station Norfolk, to obtain a student badge and vehicle access pass. Students must send an E-mail to Charris@tcc.edu no later than seven (7) days prior to first class meeting, to ensure that they are included on the school roster. Enrolled students should include in the E-mail, course (s) enrolled in at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP), Place of Birth (city and state) and their race (black, while, Hispanic, etc.).
The student badge and vehicle access pass will be issued to the students at the Naval Station Norfolk Pass and Identification Office. The Pass and Identification Office is located across from Naval Station Destroyer/Submarine Pier Gate 5 on Hampton Boulevard and “B” Avenue, in Building CD-9.
After obtaining a vehicle pass at Naval Station Norfolk, students must obtain a personal identification badge from the pass office at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, located on the ground floor of the parking garage. If you plan on entering the base as a pedestrian, you are only required to obtain a personal identification pass to access the base and attend classes.
To receive a student badge and vehicle access pass, the student must present a valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration, proof of insurance and proof of state inspection.
Students are not allowed to sponsor or bring guests on the installation, nor are they allowed access to the installation on days that their class(es) is not scheduled.
Any student found in violation of these procedures will have their student badge and vehicle access pass revoked and a Letter of Exclusion that permanently bars them from the installation issued.
Students that are issued a student badge and vehicle access pass, and subsequently drop from a class must return the student badge and vehicle access pass to the Pass and Identification Office.
The Naval Station Norfolk Pass and Identification Office will process student badges and vehicle access passes Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Students processing at the end of the day should arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. Call 322-2973 to verify customer service hours.
