How to Format
an MLA Essay using Word 97to 2007 and WordPerfect6
Here
is a sample of what an MLA essay should look like and directions
to format using Word 97 to 2007 or WordPerfect computer programs.
This handout offers general guidelines for typical essays. Students
must, however, ask their teachers for the specific requirements
of their assignments. Your teacher's instructions are the most important.
Students should type their papers on one side of the page. Standard
margins are 1" on each side. Use a 10 or 12 point font.
For editing tips, you may pick up the Practical Punctuation Guide
and other handouts available at the Writing Center or at Practual
Punctuation Guide Revised July 2002. This sample paper is available
as a PDF document. In order to view and print PDF documents, Adobe
Acrobat Reader software must be installed on your computer.
