Clay McGlamory ( Norfolk , VA ) presented screen printed acrylic sheets combined to create kaleidoscopic grids. As many as five layers of acrylic are painted on the front and back of each sheet, pushing the historically two-dimensional media of printmaking into a new realm. When viewed from the proper distance, these large-scale illuminated works become entrancing and hypnotic—designed to emphasize incredible depth and visual intrigue.
Ali Rogan ( Newport News , VA ) is often inspired by past memories. Occurrences that once entertained her as a child—such as the play of light and water—still hold a profound attraction for her today. Although her work is constantly changing, her use of the human form is continuous. Narrative works in glass depict mythological figures, present day imagery and cartoons. Portraits provide another avenue for recording those who move in and out of her life. The merger of the two has led her in new and unique directions. |
